TAMPLE OF RAVANA IN MANDLA M.P.
Mandla. There is a village of Sagar Gram Panchayat, about 20 km from the district headquarters, where there is a temple of Ravan. Ravana's effigy is not burnt in this village, rather the people of this village worship Ravana since ancient times. Not only this, even though Dussehra is celebrated with great pomp across the country, but the people of this village remain very inconsolable on the day of Dussehra. And do different types of worship for Ravana. Tribal leader and Union Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste has called it the division of society.
Ravana is worshiped everyday
There is a village in Sagar Gram Panchayat, 20 km away from Mandla headquarters, where there is a temple of Ravana, the presiding deity of the tribals. The tribal society worships in this temple daily. In this village, the effigy of Ravana does not burn on Dussehra, nor does the tribal society oppose Lord Rama. According to the tribal tradition, Bhilatdev, Barang Dev, Muthia Dev and Raun Dev are worshiped in this village of tribal area. Tribals believe that this Rauna Dev is the one whom the Hindu society knows as Ravana. Lord Shri Ram had conquered Ravana by killing him in the war. Due to these things from the mythological texts Ramcharitmanas and Ramayana, Shri Ram is considered as God and Ravana as a demon. But, the villagers of Dungaria village of Mandla district consider Ravana to be a god and worship him.
Tribals consider Ravana as ancestor
Villagers say that Maharaja Ravana is Koyavanshi which means that he has appeared in the caves. Ravana is the native here and is the ancestor of the tribals. The villagers here have joined faith by considering Ravana as their ancestor. Villagers believe that 10 qualities of Ravana have been described in Valmiki Ramayana and Ravana has been praised. On the day of Dussehra, Ravana is burnt all over the country, but the villagers of village Dungaria have laid the foundation stone of Ravana's temple.
Here for them the decision has been taken to build Madhiya i.e. to build a temple. Bada Dev is being worshiped here every day. The people of the society are seeing Ravana, the flame is being lit to Ravana, they are worshiping Ravana as an ancestor. Faggan Singh Kulaste, the leader of the tribal society and the Union Minister of State for Steel, seems completely different about this belief of the villagers. They say that such actions work to divide the society.
