The people here claim that from then till today the spirit of Nat-Natin keeps roaming around the fort and the palace. According to the story related to Nat and Natin, once upon a time there was an old king's rule here. The 'Garh Pahar' falling in Bundelkhand was its capital. During that time there was a lot of discussion in the state about the dangerous feats of a nut and natini and their balance while walking on a rope.

According to the wishes of the old king, the ministers sent messages to the nuts to reach the court. Nat reached the king's court with his wife. It is said that Nat's wife was very beautiful. In the court, the king said to the nut - Your feats are being greatly appreciated in the state. I also want to see your amazing feat. If you really performed such a feat, then half the state will be given as a reward. The tricks that the old king had asked Nut to perform were very dangerous. Actually, in this feat, a rope had to be tied from the high wall of the fort to the mountains on the other side. In the middle of the way there was a deep and dangerous ditch. By walking on this rope, Natin had to reach across.

Nat and Natin got confused on this wish of the king. He had never done such a dangerous feat before. He could have lost his life in doing this and if he refused, the old king could get angry with him. They didn't want to upset the king either. So the nuts gave their nod for the feat. Immediately on the orders of the king, preparations for the feat started. Nat could not sleep well that night. This night proved to be the last night of his life. He spent the whole night singing. His voice was reaching the old king's palace. It is said that the lyrics of the song were something like 'Gay Raat Ab Pahar Thode'. According to legend, the old king's son was trying to kill his father that night. He was greedy for the power of the state.

It is also said that the king's daughter, upset due to not getting married on the same night, also wanted to leave the palace, while on the same night, the king's wife was also sad that Nat-Natin would take half her kingdom by performing feats. The king's son changed his mind after hearing Natin's song. He thought, how long will the old father live now? Whereas, the daughter also changed her mind thinking that as so many days have passed, similarly some more days will pass.

Thousands of people gathered in the state to watch this dangerous game at the appointed time in the morning. People were frightened only after seeing the rope tied at a height from the wall of the palace to the other end. The king was sitting on the terrace of his palace with the royal family to watch the feat. Nat beat the drums and the dangerous game of crossing the ditch by walking on the rope started. Nutin started walking on a rope with the help of a bamboo stick. According to the legend, Natin had reached the halfway point in no time, showing amazing balance on the rope. As soon as he did this, the queen's worries started increasing. Seeing the king's attachment to Natin, the queen felt that half the kingdom would be gone, lest the king even marry Natin. Then the queen took a dangerous decision. The rope on which Natin was walking was cut by the queen. Natin died after falling on the rocks below.

Story of Raja Ram mandir Orchha

In the 16th century, King Madhukar Shah of Orchha was a devotee of Lord Krishna whereas his wife queen Kunwar Ganesh was a devotee of Lord Rama. There were always disputes due to this difference.
